How much could AI agents give your business?
AI agents now run whole tasks on their own. The companies with the most to gain are the ones still running on paper, spreadsheets and chat threads, and the first steps are cheap and fast. Four minutes gives you an opportunity score, the two bottlenecks to remove first, and where you stand on seven levers.
Your work email, four minutes. The result on screen and in your inbox. The lower your maturity, the higher your score.

Seven levers
From leadership to AI agents, with security and compliance as the foundation.
One honest answer
An opportunity score, your two bottlenecks with the gain and the threat, and where you stand.
The ladder
Six levels from paper to managed intelligence
Every company sits somewhere on this ladder. Skipping a rung is where digital projects go wrong: an AI agent on top of an unsecured, unreconciled estate is a liability, not an asset.
- 0 0–16
Paper
Work lives in heads, paper, chat threads and personal spreadsheets.
- 1 17–33
Digitised
Core records are in systems, but the systems do not talk to each other.
- 2 34–50
Connected
Systems and people share data. Cloud, identity and backups are in place.
- 3 51–67
Automated
Repetitive flows run without a person retyping. The data is trusted enough to act on.
- 4 68–84
Agentic
Bounded AI agents handle whole tasks, with a named approver and an audit trail.
- 5 85–100
Managed Intelligence
The business improves every quarter from its own data, with agents and people in defined roles.
Seven levers
What the scan measures
Adapted from a 360° digital maturity model, with the two levers a security company insists on: the technical foundation and compliance. The seventh is the one everyone is asking about.
Strategy & leadership
Does the leadership know what digital is for, and own it?
People & skills
Can the team use what it has, and learn what is coming?
Customers & offer
Does the customer get served digitally, and does the offer use data?
Operations & data
Are the core processes in systems, and is the data trustworthy?
Technology & security
Is the IT foundation managed, secured and recoverable?
Compliance & trust
Are personal data, access rights and obligations under control?
Automation & AI agents
Does software already do the repetitive work, with guardrails?

From software you use to agents that work
In 2026 the AI vendors shipped always-on agents with their own computer. A ten-person company can now run work that used to need a department. The question is no longer whether, but in what order.
01
Assistants you talk to
Microsoft 365 Copilot · ChatGPT · Claude · Gemini
You ask, it answers. Drafts, summaries, translations, a first version of a spreadsheet formula. It does nothing on its own and remembers little between sessions. This is where most companies are today, usually without rules.
02
Hosted always-on agents with their own computer
OpenAI dots (September 2026) · xAI Grok Bot (August 2026, beta) · Anthropic Claude Duet (October 2026, preview)
You give it a goal and the apps it may use. It works in the background on its own cloud computer, signs in to your tools, and brings results back for review. It can run while you sleep. It can also reach a lot of your data if you let it.
03
Self-hosted agents you own
OpenClaw · Hermes Agent · SafeComs bounded agents
Open-source agents running on infrastructure you control, connected to the systems you choose: order intake, booking to dispatch, enquiry handling, maintenance knowledge. Your data stays where you put it. Someone has to operate them, patch them and watch them.
90% of small businesses use AI. 23% have a policy on how.
The gap between the two is where customer data leaks and where good tools go unused. It is also the first thing the scan measures on the people lever.

Who is asking
Built by a security company, not a software vendor
SafeComs has run IT, cybersecurity and compliance for foreign and regional companies in Asia since 1999, from Bangkok. The same discipline shapes every AI workflow we build: clear boundaries, the right people in control, and a record of what happened.
We operate and coordinate the platforms you already know, from Microsoft 365 and Odoo to the endpoint detection services and the open-source agents we run ourselves. Where a task needs a specialist partner, we say so.
